Where to find the VIN

On most Yamaha Motorcycles the VIN is on a plate on the head stem of the motorcycle. It may not be immediately apparent as first glance. Try turning the handlebars all the way to the left or right, this should make the VIN plate more visible.  All modern Yamaha Motorcycle VIN are a standard 17 characters long. If your Yamaha is pre 1981 it will have a 9-digit VIN, as of yet we have been unable to find a 9 digit VIN decoder.
