On most Triumph Motorcycles the VIN is on a plate on the head stem of the motorcycle. It may not be immediately apparent at first glance.

Try turning the handlebars all the way to the left to make finding the VIN  easier.

The number will then be visible running down the head stem.

What does it mean?

The first nine characters of a Triumph Motorcycle VIN are dependent on the model of the Motorcycle. There is a checksum character to ensure the first are correct. The final numbers form a unique serial number for an individual bike.

The first three characters should be SMT which is the manufacturer code for Triumph Motorcycles.

The next two characters show the model type and the following three the model number:
